Financial Analyst Position, Luminous Capital - Los AngelesLuminous Capital, a division of First Republic Investment Management, is an SEC-Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) based in both Los Angeles and Silicon Valley. From its founding in 2008 to its sale to First Republic in December 2012, Luminous Capital was one of the fastest growing RIAs in the country, growing assets under management from $1.7 billion to approximately $6.3 billion today (First Republic Investment Management has approximately $22 billion under management). Typical clients include entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and partners in venture capital, private equity, real estate, and law. Minimum account size is $10 million.
We differentiate ourselves from traditional wealth management firms by offering a combination of traditional liquid assets and unique alternative investments. Our scale provides the resources to support dedicated in-house research, regular interaction with portfolio managers, and analytical software to support the investment views that underpin our active portfolio management.
Our clients are sophisticated investors who are typically entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, real estate investors, and private equity partners. These clients require unique and differentiated investing ideas. To accomplish this goal, Luminous creates access to asset classes and money managers that the client could not invest with individually by building our own fund-of-funds and limited partnerships to capitalize on specific investment opportunities.
Organization of the Firm
The firm has four Managing Directors that interact directly with clients, and each has a dedicated team to support them in their effort. The typical team consists of the Managing Director, a Vice President, a Financial Analyst, and one or more Associates. Three additional Managing Directors focus on investment manager research, including both public managers (equity and fixed income) and alternative investments.
Financial Analyst Position
We seek a highly motivated professional to join our team as a Financial Analyst. The Financial Analyst will work closely with the Vice Presidents and the Managing Director to manage important elements of the client relationship. The role has multiple facets and requires a wide range of skills, but, in summary, the Financial Analyst is responsible for managing end-to-end client relationships. Duties include actively engaging with clients to build effective relationships over time, monitoring client portfolios to ensure performance is on track with stated financial goals and objectives, creating/reviewing performance reports to communicate investment results to clients, attending performance review meetings with clients and implementing agreed upon changes to the portfolio, presenting proposed portfolio changes, anticipating client needs and proactively taking steps to address them, providing well-informed market perspectives to clients throughout the trading day, entering trades on behalf of clients, coordinating tax planning strategies, and growing relationships through excellent client service and proactive interaction. There will also be opportunities to oversee and monitor the work of the Associates, who are the most junior members of the team.
In addition to managing existing client relationships, the Financial Analyst will work with the Vice President and Managing Director to develop new client relationships. Marketing support includes creating presentations to introduce the capabilities of Luminous Capital to prospects, reviewing existing portfolios and outlining recommended changes, and, upon the successful acquisition of a new client, working with the Vice President or Associate to ensure that the new account opening process and transfer of positions is executed flawlessly.
