Executive Vice President/Director of Research for an RIA, founded in 1963, that helps more than 350 of the world's leading institutional investment managers increase portfolio performance by providing timely—and time-saving—global buy and sell recommendations, customized independent research, and market advice. Our clients blended method of stock analysis reveals distinctive market insights that deliver actionable ideas across investing disciplines. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in New York, Boston, and London.

As the Director of Research, you will be responsible for the day to day management of 15 Los Angeles based global equity analysts. Our analyst teams utilize a blended quantitative, fundamental and technical approach that affords coverage of over 40,000 equities in 42 developed and emerging markets. Our analysts maintain focus lists with actionable buy/sell recommendations, write special research reports and do custom consulting work for our global institutional client base.

You will work closely with our Institutional Sales manager and Client Services manager in marketing the thought leadership from our analysts. You will recruit, train and mentor our analysts and establish best practices in the monetization of our research content. In your role as Director of Research you will also work closely with the Chief Operating Officer located in Bangalore, India and his team of analysts. You will implement efficient work flow processes to increase production velocity and broaden the depth and coverage of research.

Your work experience and ethic will set the tone for performance, leadership and employee growth. Administrative responsibilities include: conducting evaluations and performance reviews, identifying and planning for any needed training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee the day-to-day activities of the research department, ensuring the timeliness, relevancy and accuracy of their work.
• Train the analyst staff on how to best ‘Sell” their ideas to our institutional client base.
• Manage/delegate custom research requests and consultancy relationships that require specialized project management.
• Maintain and delegate junior data research tasks to Analyst teams in Bangalore, India
• Provide clear and consistent communication of project initiatives.
• Participate and contribute in client meeting and conference calls as needed.
• Engage with clients to identify consulting opportunities available through the strategic use of our Los Angeles and India research teams.

Job Requirements Competencies
• MBA and/or CFA professional designation.
• Must have 20 + years of experience on the buy-side or sell-side
• Manager experience overseeing a team of at least 10 analysts
• Strong research background across all disciplines: Fundamental, Technical and Quantitative
• Familiarity with the (C-A-N-S-L-I-M) method of investing a plus.
• Prior research experience with global equities (all capitalizations) a plus
• Experience creating marketable and actionable equity ideas
• Has a deep and broad contact list of global institutional equity clients
• Comfortable with travel and public appearances promoting our thought leadership
• Strong leadership skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Works well with all levels of personnel
• Proven experience in developing and implementing effective project management and processes.
• Must have experience preparing presentation quality documents and executive level summaries.
• Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to work successfully across organizational lines and influence outcomes.
• Strong quantitative and analytical ability required
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills desired
