Job Title: SFP Analytics Analyst
Reports to:  Associate Vice President (Investment Implementation and Monitoring)
Status: Full-time / Exempt
Salary: Competitive Base Salary + Annual Bonus

Job Description:  The SFP Analytics Analyst is an integral member of PAAMCO’s Separate Fund Platform team responsible for the analytics behind monitoring all managers on the SFP.  Additionally, this individual will be the expert on all analytics systems utilized on PAAMCO’s SFP.  The Analytics Analyst will work directly with external service providers and with PAAMCO Risk and Portfolio Management to ensure a consistent and accurate risk environment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·         Analytics Systems
o   PAAMCO expert on all analytics systems and tools
o   Work with service providers to define and implement changes as necessary
o   Ensure systems are accurate and represent desired settings as part of all manager transitions

·         Investment Guidelines
o   Work with SFP Transition team to implement and test new guidelines
o   Work with service providers to accurately automate guidelines
o   Main point of contact on all investment guideline questions and issues
o   Ensure consistency between guidelines and across service providers, manage exceptions

·         Training and Education
o   Main point of contact for the SFP and greater PAAMCO for all SFP analytics related items
o   Facilitate annual training sessions on service provider analytical tools and systems
o   Train all new SFP employees on the tools, guidelines and analytics behind the guidelines
o   Educate managers as needed

·         Service Provider Interaction
o   Run weekly calls with the service providers to further develop analytics capability and to address any open issues
o   Define and manage long term projects
o   Work with PAAMCO Risk Data to facilitate data feeds from service providers to PAAMCO

·         PAAMCO Interaction
o   SFP representative on the PAAMCO Risk Management Committee
o   Work closely with PAAMCO Risk and Portfolio Management on various projects and initiatives

Job Requirements: Seeking a detail-oriented self-starter with exceptional communication and analytics skills.  The ideal candidate will possess at least two years of investment management/finance experience and be a CFA charterholder, or working towards the charter.  The candidate must be a critical thinker, motivated to work in a dynamic team-oriented environment requiring self-motivation, adaptive and have a passion for learning.  He/she must also demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to successfully manage multiple projects with shifting and/or growing job responsibilities. 
Separate Fund Platform Description:   The Separate Fund Platform (SFP) is PAAMCO’s proprietary managed account platform used to structure separate, frequently customized portfolios with underlying hedge fund managers.  Each portfolio operates and invests separately and is subadvised by a hedge fund manager selected by PAAMCO’s Investment Group.  The SFP Team of eleven is part of the Investment Operations Group and oversees the operations of the platform.

Summary:
The candidate should possess a solid background in accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and preferably has previously worked in the securities and brokerage industry. Having a Series 27 “Fin Op” license, or past employment with a broker-dealer in the capacity of a Fin Op Principal, is desirable. A registered investment advisor firm is currently searching for a Director, Manager Research & Investment Solutions.  This position will be responsible for performing ongoing due diligence on all recommended investment strategies and managers for the platform.  The position is based in Los Angeles.


As the firm operates within an open-architecture platform, this position will be responsible for performing ongoing due diligence on all recommended investment strategies on the firm’s Wealth Advisory Platform.  The candidate will be responsible for recommending new investment strategies and managers for the platform.  In addition, the candidate will also be responsible for monitoring all platform strategies and provide quarterly updates to the firm’s Wealth Advisory Investment Committee and the advisors.


Further, while working with the firm's Chief Investment Officer (CIO), the candidate would be responsible for developing content to be used by the firm's advisors as to the company's outlook on the economy and capital markets.  The candidate will also be working with the firm's CIO to design the firm's Wealth Advisory Asset Allocation models, providing research and analysis on asset allocation inputs.


The candidate is expected to participate in client and prospective meetings with the firm's advisors, as needed, to communicate the firm's capital market views and provide information regarding the firm's due diligence process.


The Director, Manager Research & Investment Solutions will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:


Due Diligence:
       ·         Take ownership as the relationship manager with third party investment management firms.
       ·         Apply and evolve a disciplined set of tools/methodology for manager evaluation, selection and monitoring.
       ·         Perform Continuing Due Diligence and monitoring on products on the firm's Wealth Advisory Platform.
       ·         Conduct screening and due diligence on investment managers for inclusion on the firm's Wealth Advisory Platform.
       ·         Research investment offerings to determine suitability for the firm's Wealth Advisory Platform.


Asset Allocation:
       ·         Work closely with CIO to develop Asset Allocation inputs, methods and processes to construct Wealth Advisory Asset Allocation Strategies.
       ·         Monitor Asset Allocation performance.
       ·         Assist in implementation, monitoring and rebalancing processes.
       ·         Thematic Research as needed.
       ·         Keep abreast of industry and economic developments, and apply that knowledge to the firm's investment recommendations and strategies.


Marketing/Communications:
       ·         Facilitate, articulate and communicate the firm's investment philosophy, outlook, and rationale for asset allocation positioning and changes.
       ·         Produce written material and quarterly updates on the Wealth Advisory Platform, keeping the advisors updated on the strategies and the instruments used to implement them.
       ·         Keep advisors apprised of platform offerings and developments; provide miscellaneous advisor education as needed.
       ·         Coordinate and facilitate periodic Wealth Advisory Investment Committee meetings.
       ·         Partner with the Wealth Advisors for proposal generation and ongoing client service efforts.
       ·         Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders.


The Candidate will

  • 5-10 years of related experience.
