RETIREMENT PLAN INVESTMENT OFFICER
Investment Officer Salary: $76,300 - $127,200, plus excellent benefits

The $12 billion Orange County Employees’ Retirement System (OCERS) seeks to fill one vacancy for an experienced journey-level investment professional on our 5-member investment staff team.

As a governmental agency, we have posted two job descriptions to fill this single vacancy:  a journey-level Investment Analyst position which is our staff’s entry-level professional position,  and an Investment Officer position which requires additional prior experience at the OCERS Analyst level and demonstrable proficiency to hit the ground running at the advanced journey level.   Both levels require collegiate degrees, preferably graduate credentials, and several years of relevant work experience in an investment organization.  Public pension experience at the analyst level is advantageous, but advanced investment credentials and comparable technical experience in specific relevant functions can be substituted for some of the required experience.

This is a hands-on, detail-oriented, non-supervisory technical position ideal for an experienced professional who is attracted to public service and seeking a career path in the public pension community.  A CFA is preferred but not required depending on directly relevant experience; the previous incumbent was CFA (who prepared the Economic Dashboards on our website with minimal supervision) and our CIO is a CFA who literally wrote the books on investing public funds and pension fund investments.  Strong analytical, writing and oral presentation skills are required.

As our website (www.ocers.org) indicates in the Investments section, we have received national awards and recognition as thought leaders in portfolio risk management, fee mitigation, and collaborative investment procurement saving our plan millions in fees annually. OCERS was the nation’s first pension system to subscribe to the CFA code of conduct for pension boards.   OCERS out-sources all investment management to a complex of 65+ independent investment advisors and works with 4 consulting firms at the portfolio level.  See our website for complete information on the work products, portfolio structure, performance and reputation of this dynamic team located in one of the world’s most attractive residential locations.
