to the Chief Investment Officer in the investment of the San Bernardino County
Employees’ Retirement Association’s portfolio; and to perform investment related

The Investment Analyst shall work in the Investments Department under the immediate
direction of the Chief Investment Officer. The Investment Analyst has the responsibility
to coordinate back office activity as well as participate in analytical duties related to
SBCERA’s investment programs.
Responsibilities of the Investment Analyst include, but are not limited to the following:
• Monitor account holdings and coordinate back office activity with all bank and
custodian relationships, as well as internal fiscal resources.
• Review and coordinate investment funding and distributions, verification of cash
flows, fees and expenses.
• Prepare and maintain investment contracts, amendments, and related
investment documents for adequacy and accuracy; confirm document completion
including but not limited to legally required information, signatures, and all other

Experience: Three years of professional experience in a public agency or financial
institution involving investment analysis, economic analysis, custodial operations, trust
administration, actuarial analysis, investment reporting, or performance measurement.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting, science, engineering,
business/public administration (with an emphasis in investments, economics, finance,
accounting or real estate) or a closely related field.
Note: Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university
accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department
of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied
with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing
equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by

Los Angeles-based Asset Manager seeks Director of Investment Operations to oversee internal and outsourced investment operations for a $10B firm.  Role will focus on the overall investment production process and relationship management with vendors, including development, implementation, and documentation of policies and procedures that influence middle/back office functions.  Will also help evaluate, plan, develop, and implement firm-wide investment support platform.  The Director of Investment Operations will be expected to suggest improvements to job procedures, workflow and efficiencies and should provide associates with assistance, training, and instruction.  The right candidate will be responsible for working with the Chief Administrative Officer to organize and track large scale, complex projects involving multiple internal and external partners.
  • Manage and oversee relationship with outsourced providers and vendors to solicit optimal performance; monitor the performance and delivery of services (based on our contracts and service level agreements)
  • Oversee internal and outsourced valuation, settlement, and daily/monthly reconciliation o positions, cash, and trades with counterparties, agent banks, and custodians; review and assess production for quality results.  Identify outliers and coordinate with outsourcing provider to correct any anomalies
  • Provide assistance to end-users of accounting data through the resolution of routine and complex problems due to advanced understanding of inter-locking relationship of securities accounting data to other systems within firm
  • Manage production and delivery of monthly/quarterly reports and client statements

Leveraging industry-specific knowledge and expertise, the Equity Research Analyst independently conducts fundamental research on companies and industries under coverage (Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology) by performing financial statement analysis, creation and maintenance of proprietary financial models, analysis of valuation metrics, and meetings with company management, suppliers and competitors to make buy and sell recommendations to Portfolio Managers.  The Equity Research Analyst is responsible for developing written stock recommendations as well as pitching stock ideas in meetings with Portfolio Managers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ideal Candidate will have a scientific background combined with strong financial modeling and analytical skills
  • MBA and/or other relevant advanced degree in medical/clinical research.
  • 5+ years of related investment analysis experience.
  • 2-3+ years of biopharma coverage experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding of, and ability to conduct accounting and financial statement analysis. Advanced technique in quantitative modeling and valuation frameworks is required.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Bloomberg, and FactSet.
  • Superior analytical and quantitative skills and ability to lead conversations with company management teams, customers, suppliers, competitors, and other sources with knowledge of the industry.
  • Solid verbal and written communications skills as well as strong presentation skills are also required.
